Play-based Music for Elementary Students at Home Part 3

At-Home Music Activities for Parents and Children

Two weeks ago, Ms. Tina Bachelder-Schwab, Head of Arts at 麻豆传媒 shared some ideas for engaging with your children through play-based music activities at home. This week, she is back with some new songs to share.

If you enjoyed the 鈥榝ound sound鈥 activities, gather your聽 household items and play along with these two tunes:

鈥淩adetzky March鈥 by Johann Strauss (great for children of all ages – try to copy the changes in volume)

鈥淚n the Hall of the Mountain King鈥 Edvard Grieg (This is a favorite in Grade 2 at 麻豆传媒!)

Remember to look for items that have a unique sound when played together:

A plastic bowl and wooden or metal spoon (hand drum)

  • Two wooden or metal spoons to hit together (rhythm sticks)
  • Plastic or metal bucket turned over and played with hands (African drum)
  • Small food container with a cover and some coins rice or beans inside (maraca or shaker)
  • Plastic bottle with a little rice or beans inside (maraca or shaker)

With many families spending a lot of time indoors, it is important to take a brain break to get up and move regularly.聽 Here are some tunes to get the wiggles out! All you will need is a little bit of space. Make sure you move safely and be aware of objects around you!聽

鈥淏INGO鈥澛 – This classic is a great song for younger children to sing and clap along.

鈥淢ove and Freeze鈥 – This action song is great for all ages so gather your friends and family and try out the fun moves.聽 Can you catch anyone who is not frozen?聽聽

We hope you are all enjoying our online home learning activities!
